When trying to come up with a title for this blog post, all I could think of were the Norwegian words koselig and hygge (which is also a Danish word.) Both are words that perfectly describes what I am about to write about, and the pictures attached to this post. There is really not an equal word in english, and I guess this is the first time I kind of wish I wrote my blog in my native language. Oh well - let us just say that it is beyond cozy, beyond feeling snuggly, and beyond feeling content and pleased. The words describe the feeling you get when you cuddle up in a blanket with a cup of hot beverage. When you curl up in bed with a movie, light candles and share moments of perfect relaxation with yourself or someone you care about. (Or a furry creature). It is the feeling of new bedding, new bedding that makes a room you kind of grew tired of look all autumnal and amazing.
This year I have gone all in when it comes to creating a cozy and positive atmosphere for me to be in, as I do spend most of my time at home. I have used the fact that I spend most of my time either in bed or curled up on the sofa as the best possible excuse to stock up on warm and snuggly items to keep me warm as well as make me feel good about being homebound to the extent I am. As I wrote in a previous post, this means fox slippers, fox shaped hot water bottles, cute new bedding and the softest knitted (and biggest) blanket I could find. With a kitchen cabinet filled with tea, I think I will do a fine job at hibernating through the winter months.
Milo, our cat, seems to enjoy this season as well. He has been especially fond of the pumpkin, and he seems to have developed a weird kind of playful crush on it. I am pretty sure he will be able to knock it off of the shelf and onto my head one of these days. If I never write again, or if you never hear from me again, it is highly likely that I have been killed by a cat and a pumpkin while asleep.
If you will excuse me, I think I will go place those pumpkins somewhere else..
